Editorial

Before a production of a film or programme the Script Writer writes a script which is then edited by the Script Editor. The Script Editor will read through a scipt to make sure that it is all in order. He/she will correct spelling mistakes which the Script writer may have made. The Script Editor may have an idea which they might add with the support of the Script Writer. Sometimes scripts are to long which means that the Script Editor will try to remove parts without ruining the content. Once everything is in order the production will take place. In some cases the director might want to change a few things which means he will sit with the Script Writer and Editor to make changes.

Newspaper Editors will read through all of the written articles and will make sure that they are all suitable for the public. In most cases they decide where these articles go within the newspaper. Similar to the Script Editor, they will make sure that everything is spelt correctly and that everything is appropriate. Newspaper Editors are keen to make sure nothing is offensive or discriminating against their readers. The editor sometimes request certain content from article writer to fill parts of the newspaper.

During post production of a film there are various stages. These stages consist of a editor's cut, a director's cut and a final cut. The editor's cut is where the editor assembles the rough cut. This rough cut consists of the shots that were filmed during production. The editor refines shots to fit with the script. He/she will use various editing techniques such as changing the lighting and different transitions.
